Parks Canada Increasing Entry Fees in 2004
Parks Canada announced today it plans to increase commercial group entry prices on October 1, 2004 and in a second phase April 1, 2005.
According to the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Parks Canada will use the increased fees to improve visitor services and facilities in the national parks and historic sites throughout the country. Fee increases were held until 2004 and 2005 in an attempt to provide tour operators ample time to recover from industry struggles.
Discounts and special rates will be available for tour operators at the start of the rate increases. For example, five percent discounts can be attributed to volumes of 500 to 2000 visitors, 10 percent discounts for groups of 2001 to 3000, and 15 percent for 3000 or more visitors brought to the park during the previous year. FIT rates, including a 10 percent discount off the regular price, will be provided to commercial tour suppliers for bulk orders of 100 passes starting October 1, 2004.
