United Increases Fares to International Destinations Due to Rising Fuel Costs
July 2, 2004 – United Airlines announced a fare increase to international destinations on Thursday. This five percent fare increase was issued to help offset the impact of escalating fuel costs. Travelers can expect increases on most flights to international destinations that originate in the United States.

"Escalating Fuel prices are a growing concern throughout the airline industry," said John Tague, executive vice president of Marketing, Sales and Revenue. "We must take the necessary steps to manage our exposure to this unprecedented rise in expense."

United reports that the fare increase applies to all published non-sale fares on flights to international destinations that originate in the United States, including United First and United Business fares, Unrestricted and discounted United Economy fares and most consolidator fares.
