U.S. Warns Against Travel to Turkey Following Bomb Blasts
November 21, 2003 – The United States State Department is warning against travel to Turkey in light of the recent terrorist bombings. The two truck-bomb explosions wrecked the British Consulate and a British bank in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, killing at least 27 people and wounding 450.

The State Department recommends U.S citizens defer non-essential travel to Turkey. The embassy in Ankara and consulates in Istanbul, Adana and Izmir remain open to provide services to American citizens. Britain and Spain also warned their nationals to avoid non-essential travel to the country.
