NTA, USTOA Claim Victory on Department of Labor Issue
November 25, 2003 – The U.S. Congress on Saturday backed off language that would have blocked the Bush Administration’s efforts to update the Fair Labor Standards Act. NTA and the United States Tour Operators Association have worked together since June to push for the update, but was dealt a blow in September when the U.S. Senate voted to support an amendment aimed at preventing the update.

Updating the Fair Labor Standards Act would pave the way for clarification of the tour operator-tour director relationship, an issue that has caused much confusion and resulted in several lawsuits.

NTA will stay involved in the issue to see that tour operator concerns are addressed.
