Signs of Rebound Showing in Hong Kong
Good news comes from the Hong Kong Tourist Board this week with the announcement of hints of tourism rebound there from the SARS outbreak.
According to a report in Travel Management Daily, nearly 997,455 tourists visited Hong Kong from July 1 through 25, down only 8.9 percent compared to the same time last year. This number is a vast improvement over June’s 38 percent decrease. Additionally, in May tourism numbers were down 68 percent.
Tourism officials indicate the July numbers are "very encouraging," but point to the lack of airline service as a potential problem.
