Multiple Injuries in California Motorcoach Collision
Fourty-four passengers were injured Sunday, including eight critically, when two motorcoaches collided on a California interstate near Baker, Calif. at approximately 3:20 p.m. The companies involved in the accident are not NTA members.
According to the Associated Press, the accident occurred on Interstate 15, the main connector between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. California officials estimate the motorcoaches, from Gold & Silver Charter and Hebaragi & Lemi Inc, were traveling through a construction zone at about 55 mph when the two collided.
The accident closed southbound lanes of Interstate 15 for about five hours and stopped northbound traffic temporarily.
