U.S. Government Issues Travel Warning for Philippines
The U.S. State Department is urging Americans living or traveling in the Philippines to exercise extreme caution due to increased security-related incidents and the possibility of future terrorism, kidnappings and other violent activity.
According to the State Department, extremist groups present in Southeast Asia have demonstrated the capabilities to carry out attacks against locations where Americans congregate. The U.S. Embassy in Manila is asking Americans to avoid crowded areas, including nightclubs and bars, and to be careful in such areas as shopping malls, and while riding public transportation.
