Flight Restrictions Imposed and Security Increased Due to Heightened Terror Alert
As a result of yesterday’s decision to raise the threat level from "elevated" to "high," the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced flight restrictions that should go into affect today. Additionally, police forces in major U.S. cities across the country are increasing security in areas such as bridges, tunnels and train stations.

According to CNN.com, the FAA is imposing flight restrictions including:

  • A temporary ban on flights over stadiums, possibly including the Indianapolis 500 this weekend.
  • Reinstatement of a "gateway" airport in Washington, D.C. for private aircraft to fly into Tipton, Md.

New York City officials indicate uniformed patrol officers are being increased in crowded areas such as subways. In San Francisco, police are closely monitoring public events with large crowds, and will conduct random truck inspections. Some cities are maintaining their patrol levels, including Houston, Texas and Detroit, Mich.
