Areas Threatened by Tropical Storm Bill Report No Attraction Closures
NTA members in Mobile, Ala., New Orleans, La., and Gulfport, Miss. – areas affected by Tropical Storm Bill – are reporting heavy rain and some flooding but no closures to destinations and attractions.

According to CNN.com, Bill was reduced to a tropical depression after coming ashore Monday near New Orleans. The storm dumped up to 10 inches of rain on some parts of the city. Power outages were mainly focused in residential areas and did not affect tourist attractions, according to the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau.

While heavy rains and flooding associated with Bill helped contribute to Mobile’s wettest June on record, it was business as usual today, said Ron McConnell of the Mobile Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Even Mobile Bay Ferry, which transports visitors between tourist havens Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island, was running, he said.

The Gulfport-Biloxi, Miss., area experienced rain and high winds but damage was not extensive enough to cause closures of major attractions, according to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau.
