Airports to Implement New Security Measures
The FBI confirmed Sunday that several new security measures will be put in place at some of the nation’s leading airports to better protect against the threat of shoulder-launched missiles being fired at airplanes.
According to CNN.com, the new security measures include further forbidding public access to airports and surrounding areas as well as increased patrols of airport perimeters. Federal aviation, law enforcement and homeland security officials have conducted assessments of nearly 80 airports nationwide as possibly being vulnerable.
Government officials are still emphasizing that these measures are precautionary and there are no specific threats to use missiles at this time.
