U.S., Vietnam to Sign Air Agreement
December 04, 2003 – The United States and Vietnam are expected to sign the first-ever comprehensive air services agreement between the two countries today, opening the way for direct, scheduled service.
According to TWCrossroads.com, U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta and Vietnamese Transport Minister Dao Dinh Binh are scheduled to sign the pact this afternoon.
Under the agreement, two airlines from each country can begin direct, scheduled service between the two countries as soon as they are given the authority by their respective governments. They may offer as many as seven weekly flights. A third airline from each country can begin services in the agreement’s third year.
