TREXtips: Make the Most of Travel Exchange ’26

Travel Exchange ’26 will be here before you know it, and a little preparation now can go a long way once you arrive in Tulsa. Whether this is your first TREX or you’ve been attending for years, TREXtips online can help you make the most of your appointments, networking opportunities, and time with fellow NTA members.

In the meantime, here are a few tips that everyone can use to make their TREX experience the best it can be:
Make connections beyond the appointment table. Make connections beyond the appointment table. Veteran TREX attendees say some of their most memorable connections began at airports, on shuttles, and during other informal moments. Luncheons, seminars, sightseeing, shuttles, and evening events all provide opportunities to meet fellow members, whether or not you’re taking appointments. Introduce yourself, sit next to someone new, and strike up a conversation. And when you make a connection, use ConneX to scan their badge. It’s an easy way to keep track of everyone you meet throughout TREX ’26, including those valuable connections made outside of scheduled appointments.
For buyers and sellers: Do your homework before your appointments. Take time to research the companies you’ll be meeting with and review their NTA Online profiles. Knowing who is sitting across from you will help you tailor the conversation, ask better questions, and spend more of your appointment talking about opportunities that make sense for both businesses.
Know your talking points. Eight minutes can move quickly. Think about what you want your appointment partner to remember about your company, destination, or product before you sit down. Veteran TREX attendees recommend having your key points worked out ahead of time rather than trying to wing it once the appointment begins.
Bring the essentials. Business cards, comfortable shoes, chargers, pens, and something for taking notes can make a busy TREX week much easier. And keep your business cards handy; you never know when a casual conversation could turn into your next valuable connection.
Take advantage of the full TREX experience. Attend seminars, participate in networking events, explore Tulsa, and look for opportunities to get involved. Volunteering can also be a great way to meet members you might not otherwise encounter during your scheduled activities.
Most importantly, don’t be shy. Travel Exchange is built around relationships, and everyone in Tulsa is there to connect, learn, and do business. A simple introduction at lunch, on the TREX Floor, or on the way to an event could be the beginning of a partnership that lasts well beyond TREX ’26.
