The National Tour Association Releases 2008 Calendar of Events
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The National Tour Association has announced the dates of its upcoming events.
March 7-13, Italy Product Development Trip
NTA and Giglio Travel will offer a Product Development Trip to the coastal region of Italy. The trip will take NTA tour operators to the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento and includes stops at the Isle of Capri, the ancient ruins of Pompeii and Naples. The registration deadline is Feb. 15.
April 2-4, NTA Tour Operator Spring Meet
Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Connecticut
The NTA Spring Meet is a three-day event that brings together tour operators and receptive operators for networking, education and product development. This year’s host is Mohegan Sun, the second largest casino in the world. NTA’s signature Tour Operator Speed Dating session is held at the Spring Meet, giving tour operators and receptive tour operators a venue to introduce their businesses during mini business appointments. The 2008 NTA Pioneer Award also will be presented during the Spring Meet.
April 13-20 Product Development Trip to Greece
As part of the "Greece: Legends and Myths of Today and Yesterday" Product Development Trip, NTA member participants will visit Athens and Crete. Hosted by CruiseClub Holidays, this tour includes a visit to the new Acropolis Museum, ancient Mycenas, and a jeep safari to Zorbas where Zeus was born, among many other exciting stops.
April 17-19, Tourism Cares for America Event at Louis Armstrong Park
New Orleans, Louisiana
As a founder of Tourism Cares and a sponsor of the Tourism Cares for America event, NTA members are encouraged to participate in the Gulf Coast restoration effort this spring. The project will accomplish major repairs and upkeep to the Louis Armstrong Park, which is home to the Mahalia Jackson Center for the Performing Arts and the Morris F.X. Jeff Municipal Auditorium. This is Tourism Cares’ fourth clean-up project for the city of New Orleans.
June 24-26, NTA Grassroots Symposium
Washington, D.C.
The NTA Grassroots Symposium is a time for NTA members to learn about key travel-related legislation and to talk to elected officials about tourism issues. Elected officials and industry insiders will give members the latest information from the Hill, and members and NTA representatives will visit Congressmen to discuss critical travel issues such as the U.S. image abroad and passport and visa procedures. Discussions will focus on NTA’s priority to reach out to the presidential candidates concerning the creation of an office of travel and tourism in the White House.
Oct. 6-11 Product Development Trip Vancouver, British Columbia
Hosted by Tourism Vancouver Island and Vancouver Coast & Mountains, this Product Development Trip focuses on the western British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. NTA member participants will visit the glaciers and waterfalls along the Princess Louisa Inlet, as well as experience First Nations culture.
Nov. 15-19 NTA Annual Convention
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The NTA Annual Convention is the place where qualified tour operators and diverse destinations and tour suppliers from the United States, Canada and overseas, meet to find quality business results.
