Survey Shows Travel Uptick for Remainder of 2011
September 19, 2011
A Travel Leaders survey shows an increase in bookings so far in 2011, with solid optimism for the rest of the year. In the group’s Fall Travel Trends Survey, conducted in August, more than half (55 percent) of 443 Travel Leaders owners, managers and travel agents throughout the United States said their bookings were higher than a year ago, with nearly a quarter (24 percent) saying they’re about the same. Some 71 percent reported optimism over business for the remainder of 2011.
When asked to name the top U.S. destinations booked for the remainder of the year, the two cities on top are the sites of NTA’s next conventions:
-
Las Vegas
- Orlando
- Honolulu
- New York City
- Maui, Hawaii
In the top international destinations, London makes a strong showing, moving up three spots from 2010:
- Caribbean cruises
- Cancun, Mexico
- London
- Rome
- European (Mediterranean) cruises
