Smithsonian, Other Capital City Attractions Remain Closed
June 29, 2006 – Washington, D.C., as well as many parts of the U.S. Northeast, remain disrupted by severe weather and flooding. As of June 29, the following Smithsonian Institution facilities remain closed to the public due to the flooding and power outages:

National Museum of American History
National Museum of Natural History
Smithsonian Castle, which houses the Smithsonian Information Center

NTA has learned that if tour operators have arranged for group meals or IMAX theater bookings at either American History or Natural History, they should contact Smithsonian Business Ventures’ Group Sales office to discuss alternatives. The National Archives, the downtown headquarters of the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service are closed for the rest of the week.
