Power On in Most Halifax Tourist Areas
Reports from two Halifax, Nova Scotia-based NTA members – Destination Halifax and Atlantic Tours Gray Line – reveal that most tourism-related areas are now open and operating following Hurricane Juan’s assault late Sunday.
Ferry service, mass transit, bridges, and most hotels and museums are operating, according to Jonathan Toms with Destination Halifax. He suggested that tour operators headed to the area should call their hotels and other destinations ahead for specific information. Phone service for most of the city has been restored.
Halifax’s Public Gardens in the downtown area and the oceanside Point Pleasant Park in the peninsula area both sustained extensive damage and remain closed.
