New Variation of E-mail Virus Attacking Systems
July 28, 2004 — A new variation of an e-mail virus has been making the rounds of the Internet over the last few days. The latest version is called W32.Mydoom.M@mm and is a mass-mailing worm that sends itself to all the e-mail addresses that it finds on an infected system. The name of the e-mail attachment may contain a randomly selected domain which was found on the sender’s system. NTA is NOT sending these messages to you.

The e-mail looks as if it is giving you a friendly warning that your system may have been infected and asks you to open the attachment. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT.

More information is available at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.mydoom.m@mm.html.

NTA strongly recommends that its members install anti-virus protection on their systems. Please contact http://preseason.ntaonline.com/tonya.cummings@ntastaff.com if you’d like more information on anti-virus programs.
