Mac Lacy Awarded Distinguished Service Award
November 1, 2004 – Mac Lacy, president and publisher of The Group Travel Leader, has been awarded the Kentucky Tourism Council’s Mangeot-Oaken Distinguished Service Award. The honor was presented by Council past-chairman Tom Heleringer at the Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Conference in Covington, Ky., on Oct. 26, 2004.

Lacy is a past employee of the National Tour Association, and he as worked in the Kentucky tourism industry with the state government, as well as in travel-trade publications. He also served as Kentucky Tourism Council chairman in 2000.

The Mangeot-Oaken Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor given by the Kentucky Tourism Council. The award was named in honor of the late Daniel A. Mangeot, Tourism Council founder and Kentucky Derby Festival CEO, and Mary Ray Oaken, former Tourism Cabinet Secretary.

This honor is awarded to those individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to developing, promoting and protecting Kentucky’s tourism industry.

The National Tour Association congratulates Mac Lacy for this outstanding award.
