Gulf of California Braces for Hurricane Ignacio
The Gulf of California is handling winds of about 90 mph today as Hurricane Ignacio makes its way across the eastern coastline of Baja,Calif.
According to CNN.com, the National Hurricane Center reported Ignacio’s center located about 40 mph east of La Paz, Mexico in southern Baja, Calif. Forecasters are predicting the hurricane to bring a four-to-six foot storm surge and 20 to 25 inches of rain. This could cause potentially dangerous flooding and landslides.
Currently, tropical storm warnings are in effect for the coast of mainland Mexico from Altata to Topolobampo, and for the southern Baja, Calif. peninsula from Loreto to San Evaristo and from Puerto San Andresito to Bahia Magdalena.
