Canada Witnesses Increase in U.S. Visitors in June
Travelers’ concerns over SARS appear to be disseminating, as visits to Canada from the United States and overseas countries increased in June for the first time in five months.
According to the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC), Canada saw a mild 0.4 percent increase in visits from the United States in June. However, the number of overseas visitors increased by 8.5 percent from May.
Canadian travel to the United States increased as well, as an estimated 2.8 million people traveled south of the border. Additionally, nearly 383,000 Canadians traveled overseas in June, an icerase of 8.1 percent from May.
