E-Mail Coming to United Airlines
NTA’s preferred airline provider United Airlines will soon be one of the first commercial carriers to offer two-way e-mail and instant messaging capabilities for travelers.

According to USAToday.com, by the end of this year, passengers on all United Airlines flights will be able to plug their laptops into jacks hooked to Verizon Airfone headsets and send e-mail messages. United has been offering limited JetConnect service on a trial basis with several 767 aircraft since December 2002. The airline was charging $5.99 per flight to use the service. Now using e-mails on flights will cost $15.98 per flight and passengers will have the ability to send and receive e-mail as well as attachments.

Other airlines have also tested the e-mail concept, including Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, British Airways and Scandinavian Airlines.
