Capitol Tours Resume, Senate Offices to Reopen
February 05, 2004 – U.S. Capitol tours resume today and Senate office buildings are scheduled to reopen on a staggered schedule today through Monday. Tours had been suspended and the Hart, Dirksen and Russell Senate office buildings had been closed since Tuesday after the deadly toxin ricin was discovered Monday afternoon in the Dirksen suite of Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).
According to the U.S. Capitol Guide Service, public tours of the Capitol were scheduled to resume this morning. The latest information regarding Capitol tours can be obtained by calling the Capitol Guide Service’s recorded information line, 202-225-6827.
Frist announced the reopening of the Senate office buildings, with the Russell set to open at noon today, the Hart at 9 a.m. Friday and the Dirksen at 7 a.m. Monday.
