British Airways Strikes Could Disrupt Travel
After one strike over the weekend left thousands of people stranded, and talks between British Airways and trade unions broke down Wednesday, the threat of more strikes could mean problems for summer travel on the carrier.
According to USAToday.com, the strike over the weekend by about 250 British Airways check-in staff at the Heathrow Airport in London caused the airline to cancel hundreds of flights.
Talks continue in the hopes of avoiding similar strikes this summer, over the new shift-monitoring system unleashed by British Airways. Employees are concerned the new system would possibly change working conditions and pay rates. Officials will meet this week to attempt to resolve the ongoing dispute.
