Aer Lingus Takes Measures to Lessen Effects of Planned Strike
Oct. 22, 2003 – A planned strike by cabin crew employees of Ireland’s Aer Lingus Thursday and next Monday could disrupt thousands of passengers, but the airline has taken measures to lessen the disruption.
According to The Irish Times newspaper, Aer Lingus plans to hire more than 20 aircraft from other airlines around Europe to handle some of the 200 flights that were scheduled Thursday, 26 of which already have been cancelled. The disruption could potentially affect 20,000 passengers.
Cabin crew employees threatening to strike are objecting to new roster arrangements.
