Lights Out at Many Travel Sites on Saturday for Earth Hour

More than 2,000 cities around world are expected to participate in Earth Hour, a coordinated event that aims to draw attention to climate change and global warming. According to MSNBC, the lights are scheduled to go out at hundreds of tourist landmarks and buildings in cities across the world, including New York, London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Moscow and Nairobi.

Survey Says Affordability Increasing U.S. Residents’ Intent to Travel

According to the most recent results of the travelhorizons quarterly survey, the U.S. Traveler Sentiment Index rose to 90.2 in February 2009 from 78.2 in October 2008 due to an increase in the perceived “affordability of travel.” The survey, which was conducted from Feb. 7 to 13, polled a representative survey of 2,270 adults, from which the Index is calculated.

Passport Day In the USA is March 28

On Saturday, March 28, the U.S. Department of State will celebrate “Passport Day in the USA,” a national outreach event established to help educate the public about U.S. travel document requirements. All Department of State Passport Agencies and many Passport Acceptance Facilities around the country will host passport application acceptance events. U.S. citizens without a valid passport book or passport card are encouraged to apply on this day.
