TIA Report Shows Industry’s Continued Improvement
January 07, 2004 – The travel industry continues to improve, according to the Travel Industry Association of America’s Industry Performance Indicators report for November.
Domestic air revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 5.2 percent from November 2002, according to the report. Over the same period, international air RPMs rose 4.2 percent. While total airline jobs fell 9.7 percent compared to November 2002, employment was up slightly from the prior months.
The report also revealed that for the seventh consecutive month, hotel/motel room demand grew on a year-over-year basis, increasing 3.9 percent over November 2002. In addition, Amtrak RPMs jumped 19.2 percent against November 2002.
