Slavitter to Chair 2009 Annual Convention
Nov. 27, 2006 – Suzanne Slavitter, CTP, of Sports Empire Inc., a Lakewood, California-based sports and special events tour company, will serve as chairman of the 2009 National Tour Association Annual Convention scheduled for Nov. 14-18, in Reno, Nevada. NTA’s Annual Convention, which regularly attracts thousands of travel professionals, is recognized as the premier marketplace for buying and selling packaged travel.

 

"It is such an honor to be entrusted as chairman for the 2009 NTA Convention in Reno," said Slavitter. "The NTA Annual Convention is always one of the most fun and productive weeks of the year for our business. I am excited to have this opportunity to give back to NTA for all it has given to our company."

 

Slavitter, who is the vice president and co-owner of Sports Empire and president of The Empire Consulting Group, was appointed by Judith Thomas, CTP, NTA immediate past chairman and CEO.

 

Involved in the travel business for over 20 years, Slavitter has presented marketing seminars at various travel industry events including ASTA World Congress, ARTA National Conference, The Travel Institute National Forum, Vacation.com Annual Conference and the NTA Annual Convention. She is a past member of the NTA Leadership Team and has served as the chair for the ASTA Tour Operator Program Committee. Slavitter is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She earned NTA’s Certified Tour Professional designation in 1996 and her Certified Travel Industry Executive designation in 2005.

 

Slavitter will follow Bob Hofmann of Broadway Inbound in New York City, New York, who will chair the 2007 Convention in Kansas City, Missouri (Nov. 2-6), and John Shaffer of Luray Caverns in Luray, Virginia, who will chair the 2008 Convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Nov. 15-19).
