Rhode Island to Host NTA’s New Tour Operator Business-Builder, CONTACT

LEXINGTON, Ky. – CONTACT, NTA’s newest networking and educational event for tour operators, will debut August 1-3, 2011, in Newport, Rhode Island. CONTACT is one of a suite of business-builders NTA offers to address member business and education needs. This business-builder will focus on the tour operator, will always be held in North America.

"Rhode Island has been a longtime member and supporter of NTA, and we’re thrilled to have them as our hosts," said NTA President Lisa Simon, CTP. "At our Convention, tour operators are very busy with one-on-one appointments with suppliers and DMOs and sometimes cannot attend our educational seminars. CONTACT will answer that need with professional development sessions designed specifically for them."

Developed by a committee of NTA members, CONTACT offers three educational tracks built to address the three main areas of running a tour company:

  • CEO/owner
  • Sales and marketing
  • Operations

CONTACT is also an opportunity to explore Rhode Island. A pre-Familiarization tour with a culinary theme is being offered the week before, and the opening Icebreaker will be held at the historic Rosecliff Mansion, which has served as the background for scenes from movies like "The Great Gatsby," "True Lies" and "Amistad."

"All of the Rhode Island members of NTA are very excited about hosting CONTACT next year," said Rhode Island Tourism Division Travel Trade Manager Katrina White. "Rhode Island is a very special place and we are looking forward to showing off not only the beauty of Newport but our entire state to our NTA family."

NTA’s other business and education conferences are the Convention, this year to be held Nov. 13-17 in Montreal, and MONTAGE, NTA’s international event, to be held again next year, April 13-16 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
