NTA Hears from Meet Minneapolis
Aug. 2, 2007 –NTA member Meet Minneapolis, Official Convention & Visitors Association, is located less than a mile from the 35W bridge. They have let NTA know that no staff members were directly involved in this terrible accident.
"Although we had some near misses, we are blessed that no Meet Minneapolis team members were on the bridge at the time," said Meet Minneapolis President and CEO Greg Ortale. "We thank all our friends and colleagues in the industry who continue to send their best wishes to us as we go through this difficult time. Please continue to keep the people of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area in your thoughts and prayers."
According to a statement from Meet Minneapolis, downtown Minneapolis is fully functioning and the city’s convention structure should not be greatly impacted.
The Minneapolis Convention Center is more than two miles from the 35W bridge and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is south of the city, with the main highways leading into the city unaffected by the incident.
