Greenville, S.C. Hotel Remains Closed Following Fire
January 29, 2004 – The Comfort Inn on Congaree Road in Greenville, S.C., is closed indefinitely following a Sunday morning fire that killed six people and caused significant damage.
"There’s no word on when the hotel might reopen, and we wanted to let tour operators know in case they need to make other arrangements," said Gail Sayadian, national director of sales for Choice Hotels International, the parent company of Comfort Inn. Choice Hotels International is a corporate member of NTA.
According to The Greenville News, investigators have not yet said what sparked the fire, which started in the third-floor hallway of the five-story hotel.
