Cancun Reopenings
February 8, 2006 – Lodging is reportedly almost back to full capacity following the devastation by Hurricane Wilma last October.

Cancun has undergone a $20.33 million project to recover the nine miles of beach that were eroded by the hurricane. The Cancun visitors bureau reports that many of the beaches are now open and accessible.

According to Travel Pulse Daily, the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, will reopen to guests around June 15 this year. This comes after extensive repairs following Hurricane Wilma, forcing the resort to close since last fall.

The resort plans to introduce several new features and attractions, including a new Culinary Center, created in association with The Viking Range Company. Legendary player and ESPN commentator, Cliff Drysdale will be offering tennis lessons and the resort’s fitness center also will be upgraded to include an extensive workout facility. Located on more than 7.5 acres along the Caribbean, The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun features balconies overlooking the ocean from its 365 guestrooms and suites. The Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Report is due to reopen in May after undergoing $40 million in renovations and repairs. The hotel is adding a business center, fitness center and sports bar.
