NTA Research Trends Indicate Positive Growth in 2004
(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – Findings from the most recent National Tour Association member survey reveal steadily increasing consumer confidence and business levels that promise continued growth in 2004. These findings correspond with recent statistics that show consumer confidence in the economy to be at its highest point since July 2002.

According to the web-based, quarterly surveys that determine the current state of tour operator business, NTA tour operator members reported consistent business increases in each quarter of 2003 over the same quarter in 2002. This included a steady increase in the number of passengers and departures over the year, as well as improved sales. This is consistent with overall economic indicators that Americans are growing increasingly optimistic.

NTA tour operators have also reported that this trend of business growth will continue, and first quarter 2004 is expected to bring continued sales growth. According to survey results, 84 percent of NTA tour operators anticipate greater than or equal sales volume over the same time period in 2003.

"This research is the clearest indicator so far that the industry recovery that we have been projecting and working toward is now fully underway," said NTA President Hank Phillips, CTP. "The economy is showing signs of recovery, and people are getting excited about travel. We look forward to seeing this trend continue throughout 2004 and beyond."
