Wildfires Continue to Plague Arizona
Nine different wildfires continue to burn in three Western states this week, as well as Alaska, while Arizona tackles an unusually large blaze burning 11,400 acres.

According to, the southern Arizona wildfire grew by about a third on Sunday as high winds and increased temperatures encouraged the blaze. The fire continues on a strong path toward northern Arizona, and unfortunately firefighters have been able to contain only about five percent.

The resort and tourist areas in the southern slopes of Arizona around Mount Lemmon and Summerhaven were hit hard by the blaze this weekend. The fire also swept over the top of Mount Lemmon and down in Lower Soldier Camp. The cause of the fire is still under investigation because officials cannot reach its origin at this time.
