Vermont Restaurant Destroyed; View Alternatives for Tour Operators
Sept. 8, 2006 – NTA has learned from the Vermont Tourism Network that the historic Dog Team Tavern in Middlebury, Vermont burned to the ground early Sept. 1. The explosive fire tragically claimed the life of long-time owner Christopher Hesslink. State fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
The Dog Team hosted dozens of visiting tours each year for lunch and dinner. Any tour operator with reservations for the fall 2006 season must make alternative arrangements. Suggestions provided by the Vermont Tourism Network include: The Sirloin Saloon in Shelburne (802.985.2200) or Rutland (802.773.7900); The Red Mill Restaurant at Basin Harbor Resort (802.475.2317); The Waybury Inn in East Middlebury (800.348.1810); or the Middlebury Inn located in Middlebury (800.842.4666).
