U.S. to Enforce Stricter Passenger Rules
Effective today, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service will require all commercial airlines to submit detailed passenger information before arriving or leaving the United States.
According to CNN.com, the new program is part of an ongoing effort to improve national security, mandated by Congress in the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002.
The new law requires advanced receipt of passenger information including the traveler’s complete name and date of birth, citizenship, sex, passport number and country of issuance and information on their U.S. visas. Additionally, passengers will be required to include an address listing in the United States.
