U.S. Issues New Travel Warning for Liberia
The U.S. State Department issued a new warning for Americans against travel to Liberia, stating rebels in the country are engaged in clashes with government troops.
The travel warning, issued Friday, states that all non-essential travel to Liberia should be avoided and Americans in the country should depart immediately. The fighting has closed principal roads to Sierra Leone and Guinea, and from Monrovia in the western portion of the country. Commercial flights are expected to be cancelled soon.
