Travelers Should Expect More Thorough Screenings at Airports
This week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent an advisory to law enforcement and airport screeners to focus extra attention on CD players, cameras, laptops and other electronic gadgets.
According to a report on CNN.com, the advisory alerts security officials about the possibility that al-Queda could use electronic equipment to carry out future attacks. As a result of the additional screening methods, air travelers could experience longer lines passing through security.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is advising travelers to remove all electronics from their bags and pockets and send them through the screening machines.
This set of changes is the latest in an effort to tighten security since the government publicly warned of possible attacks in late July.
