.travel Registrations Reach 20,000
July 25, 2006 –Travolution reports that .travel domain names have now reached 20,000 registrations worldwide in just over 12 months. Travolution spoke with Tralliance exclusively at the launch of the Mongol Rally in London. Chief executive Ron Andruff said around half of the domains bought had been "activated" with fully functioning sites.

The Mongol Rally 2006, now in its third year, is an eight thousand mile charity trek across seven mountain ranges and three deserts to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. More than 200 teams compete for charity to raise a quarter of a million pounds for the African charity "Send a cow" and a selection of excellent Mongolian Charities such as helping street children living in the capital city, rural herding families, micro economic programs and wildlife conservation.

.travel chose to sponsor the event because it shares in the Mongol Rally’s inspiration for travelers to be innovative, explore the world in new ways and connect with the international travel community.

During the interview, Andruff said that companies would be foolish not to use their new . travel domains immediately, saying, "Any manager that has bought one of this but has not activated it should be fired."

The directory will be a valuable resource to help consumers learn more about the benefits of doing business with companies who use a .travel name.
