Travel Bookings Return to Normal in May
In a newly released National Travel Barometer, the American Automobile Association (AAA) reports that overall travel bookings, including cruises, packaged travel, car rentals and hotels, returned to 28,100 for the week of May 26 to June 1, consistent with 2002 travel patterns.

According to a report in the Orlando Business Journal, Packaged tour bookings were just slightly above last year’s level at Memorial Day weekend, representing 7,700 trips. This total is 112 percent of the 2002 level, and 84 percent of the previous week’s total 9,200 bookings. Hotel bookings reached a total of 11,100, or 91 percent of the 2002 level. Cruises raked in 5,000 trips Memorial Day weekend, or 108 percent of their 2002 numbers.

The National Travel Barometer is based on a survey of 13 AAA clubs, composed of more than 46 million AAA members.
