Tourism Cares Gulf Coast Restoration Fund at NTA Convention
September 9, 2005 – Tourism Cares for Tomorrow has announced the Tourism Cares – Gulf Coast Restoration Fund, established to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. As part of their fundraising efforts, they will be selling wristbands at the NTA Annual Convention in Detroit for $10 each. The proceeds will go to the Tourism Cares – Gulf Coast Restoration Fund and Tourism Cares will match all funds raised. Additionally, Tourism Cares is seeking other companies willing to match the sales.
Part of Tourism Cares for Tomorrow’s mission is to help conserve, preserve and restore natural, cultural and historic treasures of the world so that future generations of travelers can enjoy what we have today.
Executive Director, Bruce Beckham said, "What has taken place on America’s Gulf Coast will have a dramatic effect on the future of that area’s tourism industry, an industry that is so vital to its economy. Rebuilding of the tourism infrastructure will take very long time, but it will be done. Part of that rebuilding will be the task of repairing and restoring of its natural, cultural and historic sites, the very reasons why people travel to that region."
Additional special announcements and fundraisers for the Tourism Cares – Gulf Coast Restoration Fund will be forthcoming. Information on making a donation to the fund is available at http://www.tourismcares.org/ or by calling 781-821-5990.
