TIA Has Created a Job Bank to Help Workers Displaced by Katrina
September 8, 2005 – The Travel Industry Association of America, in partnership with the Travel & Tourism Coalition and the Travel Business Roundtable, is offering free use of a job bank to help workers displaced by Hurricane Katrina find new employment. The rollout for this new Web site – http://www.katrinajobs.org/ – is Thursday, Sept. 15.
"Displaced people in our industry from the affected areas have a multitude of critical needs. High on that list is employment," NTA President Hank Phillips, CTP, said. "I want to commend Roger Dow and TIA and its partners for launching a national initiative to attack this need. NTA will support this effort in any way we can."
The Web site will include a section for postings by both those seeking employment and companies with positions available. While the impetus is to help those in the travel industry, the job listings will include information from all types of businesses, whether they are travel related or not.
If you have jobs to post for KatrinaJobs.org right now, you can e-mail the information to katrinajobs@tia.org. Once the site goes live, you will be able to post them yourself.
You can help get the word out on this initiative by passing this information along to anyone, especially your local media outlets.
