Street Closings in D.C.: Opening of National Museum of the American Indian
September 17, 2004 – The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian celebrates its Grand Opening on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, September 21, 2004. In preparation for the event, the following streets on or near the National Mall will be closed on Tuesday.
- Jefferson and Madison Drives, between 3rd and 14th Streets closed: 6 a.m. – Midnight
- 3rd St. between Independence and Pennsylvania Aves. closed: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- 4th St. between Independence and Pennsylvania Aves. closed: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. except the portion of 4th St. between Jefferson and Madison closed: 9:30a.m. – 10 p.m.
- 7th St. between Independence and Constitution Aves. closed: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 a.m.
- 12th St. between Independence to Jefferson and form Constitution to Madison closed: 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
