Priority for Airlines is Punctuality
Nearly 83 percent of all commercial airline flights reached their desired destinations on time in the first six months of the year, according to the Department of Transportation.

In a report on USAToday.com, the DOT said there is no correlation between airline punctuality and profit. Records indicate that in the first half of this year, the nine largest airlines lost $1.8 billion. However, the number of landings and takeoffs reached an all-time high of more than 3.2 million, including smaller carriers.

Some of the top-ranked airlines in terms of punctuality included SkyWest at 90.3 percent, Southwest at 85.4 percent and America West at 85.2 percent.
