Potential Strike May Affect Broadway Shows
Musicians on Broadway are preparing to strike next week as their union contract expires Sunday, forcing many New York shows to resort to possibly using prerecorded music.
According to CNN.com, the potential strike comes as negotiations between the musicians’ union and producers come undone. The two parties are disagreeing about a clause in the contract that requires a minimum number of orchestra members to be hired for each Broadway theater. Negotiations could continue through the weekend.
Officials have not yet determined if shows would offer discount tickets in the case of a strike.
