Pilots in Italy Plan to Strike Today
Italian pilots and flight attendants are planning to strike today after complaints of overwork, causing Italy’s national carrier Alitalia to cancel 136 flights.

According to USA Today.com, pilots and attendants are refusing to work for four hours today. Cancellations on Alitalia included 82 national flights and 54 international flights, but no intercontinental routes. As a result of the strike, 14,000 passengers will not be able to fly on Alitalia today.

The pilots’ union ANPAC is complaining that crews are finding themselves working for up to 17 hours consecutively, while 12-hour shifts are normal in many other countries.
