Passengers On Seattle, San Francisco Flight May Have Been Exposed to Measles
April 12, 2004 – According to USAToday, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning to travelers on Friday who might have been exposed to the measles. Passengers on four flights from Hong Kong to San Francisco and Seattle late last month may have been exposed to toddlers from China carrying the measles.

The toddlers were part of a group of 12 adopted children who departed from China on March 26 and traveled to five U.S. states – Washington, Alaska, Florida, Maryland and New York. Nine of the children had a "measles-like rash illness," the CDC reported. Three children in Washington and one in Maryland tested positive for the disease and were likely infectious during the plane ride.

The CDC warns anyone who might have been exposed to the children to see a doctor if they develop a fever or a rash before Friday, April 16. However, the report said most U.S. airline passengers are at low risk because of immunizations.

The CDC’s warning applies to United Airlines Flight 862 from Hong Kong to San Francisco; Cathay Pacific Flight CX872 from Hong Kong to San Francisco; United Airlines Flight 476 from San Francisco to Seattle and United Airlines Flight 784 from San Francisco to Seattle.
