NTA Represented at First-ever U.S. Global Travel & Tourism Summit
April 10, 2006 – NTA President Hank Phillips will represent the association at the 6th Global Travel & Tourism Summit, April 11-12, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. This is the first time the summit has been held in a U.S. city. India, Qatar and Portugal comprise past host countries. The summit will bring together the CEOs and Chairmen of the world’s foremost travel and tourism businesses, Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and influential journalists from around the globe.

The summit encourages interactive debate and dialogue among industry leaders and this year’s theme will be "Open Mind, Open World." This theme will rally both the international private and public sectors to increase business and leisure travel, promote development of travel infrastructure and raise awareness of the economic impact of the industry. Summit discussions will also focus on how the travel and tourism industry can help foster cultural understanding, tolerance and respect of different cultures, religion and values as well as economic growth and sustainable development worldwide.

As outlined by the association’s strategic direction, NTA is focusing on the continual development and strengthening of international affiliations, including inbound and outbound initiatives. NTA continues to promote its members and increase association awareness within the industry by attending industry events such as this summit.
