NTA Member Jean Pierre Dansereau Chosen as Inaugural CONTACT Chair
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Jean Pierre Dansereau of Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort will serve as the chair of NTA’s new Business Builder, CONTACT, which will be held in Newport, Rhode Island, Aug. 1-3, 2011. NTA Chairman and CEO Cathy Greteman appointed Dansereau to the position.
"I’m honored to be part of this new NTA event focused on education and business," said Dansereau. "This new format gets to the heart of our business, and I look forward to returning home to New England and serving our association in this capacity. I am confident this new conference will open more doors for NTA members and provide the knowledge necessary to grow our businesses."
When selecting Dansereau for the event chairman’s role, Greteman said, "JP was an obvious choice. He is well-respected in the travel industry and within NTA. He has always had a willingness to serve NTA, whether through an event or by serving on the NTA Board."
CONTACT-developed by a committee of NTA members-will give tour operators a mix of business, networking and destination product development as well as professional development. Education will serve as a key component of the conference and attendees will benefit from three tracks that address the main areas of running a tour company:
- CEO/owner
- Sales and marketing
- Operations
Dansereau has worked in the travel industry for 17 years and is currently director of travel industry sales for Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort. Dansereau has worked in sales for Mohegan Sun, Coach USA and Foxwoods Resort Casino. In addition, he has served on the NTA Board of Directors and has served on numerous other travel industry committees. He resides near Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Amy and three children, Maxwell, Julia and Elijah.
Accommodations for CONTACT will be at the Newport Marriott, which sits waterfront facing the Harbor with a view of Rhode Island’s famous sailboats. Registration will soon open, and information will be available at http://www.ntaonline.com/.
