NTA Fights Seller of Travel Proposal in Virginia
NTA members took action earlier today and helped thwart a potential seller of travel proposal in Virginia.
The association learned earlier today that a bill entitled the "Virginia Travel Agency Act" had been introduced in the Virginia House of Delegates. The legislation, House Bill 2334, would require sellers of travel located in Virginia to obtain a bond or letter of credit of up to $50,000, mandates the creation of escrow accounts, and requires a bond or letter of credit on the escrow account of up to $25,000.
NTA alerted Virginia NTA tour operators and urged them to contact Delegate Floyd Miles, the sponsor of the legislation. Due to the response of NTA members and Virginia travel agents, Miles has pulled the legislation for amendment.
NTA will continue to monitor the situation and will keep its members informed of the latest developments.
