NTA Events Build Business for Association Members
San Francisco (May 21, 2011)(distributed at Pow Wow)—NTA’s aptly named Business Builders—Montage, Contact and the Convention—bring members diverse opportunities to buy and sell travel product to, from and within North America.
NTA, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2011, has evolved over the decades along with the ever-changing marketplace. Much of the association’s growth has focused on developing events that bring together travel professionals from around the world. As a result, NTA’s Business Builders reflect the diversity of product available throughout the industry.
- Montage, the first of the annual collection of Business Builders, took place in April in Aberdeen, Scotland. The international show, held in conjunction with the Visit Scotland Expo, gave attendees a chance to network with international travel professionals who specialize in travel to, from and within North America. Montage also offered a series of seminars on global travel trends.
- This summer, NTA tour operators will gather in Newport, Rhode Island, Aug. 1–3, for Contact. This event not only provides an intimate setting for operator-to-operator networking, it also offers a pre-conference familiarization trip that showcases the area’s remarkable culinary specialties. Education sessions at Contact are channeled in three tracks—CEO/owner, sales and marketing, and operations—enabling several members of a single company to gain specialized knowledge.
- The association’s annual convention assembles the most diverse group of buyers and sellers of any travel industry show. Convention ‘11 will be held in Las Vegas, Dec. 5–9, and will include appointment sessions for buyers and sellers interested in any segment of the North American travel market. Tour operators can expect to expand itineraries as suppliers and destinations showcase their offerings in an all-member, all-access format.
In addition to the three trade shows, NTA offers Product Development Trips, which allow destinations and suppliers a chance to market their products through firsthand experience to NTA’s 700-member tour companies. Following a February PDT to China and April’s PDT in Scotland, the schedule includes trips to Saskatchewan, Aug. 30–Sep. 4, and Morocco, Nov. 3–13.
